Terms of Use

These conditions govern use of Middlesex County Criminal History. Accessing a page, reading its content, or submitting a search means that you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, discontinue use of the website.

NO FCRA USE. Middlesex County Criminal History is privately operated and has no affiliation with Middlesex County, Virginia, or any other government. This site and its advertising partners do not provide services for credit, employment, insurance, tenant screening, or another purpose governed by the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA). The site is a records-reference resource, not a private investigator or consumer reporting agency.

1. What This Website Is

This is a private reference site with no government connection. It neither stores official criminal records nor retrieves records, files documents, or conducts official background checks.

Its role is to identify the custodians of Middlesex County records, including the Sheriff, courts sitting in Saluda, Virginia State Police CARE/CCRE, and the Virginia Sex Offender and Crimes Against Minors Registry. Virginia Freedom of Information Act access under Code § 2.2-3700 et seq. applies to covered public bodies, while criminal-history dissemination is governed by Code § 19.2-389. Those laws do not make this private site an official source.

2. Rules for Using This Site

As a condition of use, you must not:

  • Use the website in violation of federal, Virginia, or local law
  • Threaten, stalk, or harass a person with information found here
  • Rely on site content for employment, housing, credit, or insurance decisions
  • Attempt unauthorized access to any system or account
  • Deploy a scraper, bot, or other automated collection tool against the pages
  • Interfere with site performance or another visitor's access

3. No Harassment, Stalking, or Discrimination

You may not use information from this site or a linked tool to stalk, intimidate, harass, threaten, or unlawfully discriminate against anyone. The restriction is especially important for the Virginia Sex Offender and Crimes Against Minors Registry. Virginia Code § 9.1-914 restricts misuse, and conduct aimed at a listed person can also violate criminal law. Registry information is provided for public-safety awareness, never vigilantism, employment exclusion, or housing discrimination.

4. We Are Not a Consumer Reporting Agency

Middlesex County Criminal History is not a consumer reporting agency under the FCRA and does not create a credit report, background check, or consumer report. Its advertising partners likewise are not presented as services for screening applicants, evaluating rental requests, setting insurance prices, or measuring creditworthiness. Information from this site or a linked tool must not be used to:

  • Make a credit or insurance eligibility decision
  • Evaluate a job applicant or employment status
  • Assess a tenant or housing application
  • Decide eligibility for a license, permit, or government benefit
  • Carry out any other FCRA-regulated purpose

Where a lawful purpose requires a compliant report, use an authorized process through Virginia State Police or a screening provider that complies with the FCRA.

5. No Legal Advice

Site content is not legal advice. General information about Middlesex County records cannot determine how a warrant, charge, conviction, sealing rule, or expungement law applies to one set of facts. Consult a Virginia-licensed lawyer for that analysis.

6. No Warranties

All site content and functions are supplied "as is." No warranty is made that:

  • Partner search results will be complete or correct
  • Information will always be current, accurate, or complete
  • The website will operate continuously
  • Every page will be free from bugs, errors, or security defects

Criminal records change as charges are filed, amended, dismissed, sealed, or expunged. Delays and gaps can occur. No statement here is an official representation by a court, the Middlesex County Sheriff, Virginia State Police, or another government office.

7. Third-Party Services and Links

Links can lead to sheriff pages, Virginia court systems, state agencies, legal resources, and independent search services. A destination outside this site is controlled by its own operator. Middlesex County Criminal History is not responsible for that operator's content, fees, availability, or data practices. Review the destination's terms before using it.

8. Intellectual Property

Text, graphics, logos, and code are owned by Middlesex County Criminal History or its content partners. They may not be copied, changed, distributed, or used to create derivative material without prior written permission.

9. Limits on Our Liability

To the fullest extent allowed by law, Middlesex County Criminal History is not liable for damages arising from site use, including reliance on information found here or through a linked service.

10. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold the site harmless from claims, demands, or legal proceedings caused by your use of the website or a breach of these terms, including related legal fees and costs.

11. Governing Law

Virginia law governs these terms. Any dispute arising from use of the site must be brought in a court located in Virginia.

12. Changes to These Terms

These terms may be revised at any time. A revision becomes effective when the new text is posted on this page.

13. Cutting Off Access

Access to the site may be restricted or terminated at any time, for any reason, and without advance notice.

14. Severability

If a court finds one provision invalid or unenforceable, all remaining provisions continue in effect. The affected language will be modified only as far as needed to make it enforceable.

15. Questions

Questions about these conditions may be submitted through the Contact page.
